Career advice from Lemonade

Posted by Tech Connection on June 07, 2016

With Beyonce’s most recent visual album, Lemonade, we have seen that Queen Bey is not only the Queen of slayage, but she also gives some great career tips. We analyzed some of the lyrics for you and now we love her message even more! Here’s what we learned from Beyonce’s Lemonade:

  1. Dream it.

Dreaming about your future is important because it lays the foundation for your career and, most importantly, orders your steps for your plan of action. So, first, visualize what you want and where you want to be, then you can use that dream to help you take small actionable steps to help you achieve your goal. Queen Bey shows us best that her dream was to be a successful artist in the music industry. Now she’s the Jack of all trades- singing, acting, and performing. Her dreams eventually turned into her reality because she took the steps to achieve her success.
  2. Work Hard.

Spending countless hours binge-watching Netflix may be alright on occasion, however, it’s more important to spend that time investing in yourself. If you have the opportunity to head to a workshop or sit in on a panel discussion related to your career field, take it. This is part of the work that you have to put in to build yourself up.
  3. Grind hard until you own it.

Queen Bey is telling us that we have to give our dreams all that we got. If you are an individual contributor on a team, be the CEO of your job and be the best (insert your title here) you can be! Once you put in the work to really understand all of the important details of your job, Bey encourages us to dream bigger and work hard until you own a company or have some level of stock in the company. Your hard work and effort should reflect in your salary. After all, Bey did say, the
    "best revenge is your paper”
